A THOUSAND ARMS
The Landmine Survivors Network

The Landmine Survivors Network works to support victims of landmines worldwide. One of the organization's founders is an American named Jerry White who was a tourist in Israel when he and his friends camped in some woods which were full of landmines. Together with Ken Rutherford, another American landmine survivor, Jerry started the Network, which works to provide all the support landmine victims need to rebuild their lives. Many soldiers have the all resources of the military hospital system behind them but civilians are not eligible for this help. The Landmine Survivors Network aims to provide hospital treatment, artificial limbs, psychological treatment together with action to strengthen social network support, and assistance with employment.
The network does not only focus on landmines. It has recognized the similar needs of victims of cluster bombs, for example, and is involved in the campaign against these indiscriminate killers too.
